These responsibilities are vast and span a large array of different operations that are undertaken.
Firstly, our agents build an understanding of the load requirement from the assigned load pipeline. This will make sure that there are no inconsistencies in the future while dealing with the load. The type of trailer must be ascertained. Also, the type of freight must also be deduced, in order to match the right type of trailer for the operation. It is then decided whether or not additional equipment might be needed, such as straps, chains, tarp, etc.
Next the weight and quantity of the load is noted. This is very important as there are legal limits when dealing with loads. Of Course when dealing with loads, insurance is a requirement, therefore we assist in ensuring the insurance documentation is valid. The picks and drops are then ascertained including the location, timing, appointments and frequency.
We then negotiate the rates including the lower limit and the higher limit that will be paid in terms of dollars per mile. ($USD/mile)
If there are any additional cost components such as fuel surcharge, lumper costs, TONU (truck ordered not used) etc. then provisions must be made for the same. A check of the MC number is then carried out including the assessment of other requirements such as HAZMAT card, etc.
Another core part of our operations is posting of the loads on online load boards (internal and external) while also providing inbound/outbound call center support around the clock.
Our technical agents concern themselves with carrier qualification and take care of backend document verification. Further there are negotiations with carriers to arrive at a reasonable rate. Once the rate is negotiated then carrier onboarding begins. (in case of new carriers that are not already listed) We then undertake the operation of rate confirmation generation.
Throughout the entire process, we provide on-call driver/carrier support through our support infrastructure. We continuously monitor and manage the process flow through the Highway Haul application while maintaining constant communication with the Highway Hawl delivery team.
